An employer with the human touch

From the laboratory to the various treatments, working at CHUV means crafting the future of medicine. Our hospital is also considered to be one of the most attractive employer in Switzerland in the health field.

CHUV is the top employer in the canton of Vaud and a major training centre: it offers various research and innovation possibilities, as well as working conditions that aim to promote a better work-life balance.

Several key measures have been taken in this direction over the past few years, including jobsharing, remote working, part time and a progressive return to work following maternity leave. In terms of managerial culture, CHUV also stands out by placing emphasis on benevolent leadership, via the intermediary of its MicroMBA programme aimed at managers and future managers.

Working at CHUV

CHUV is located two metro stops from the centre of Lausanne, an Olympic city on the banks of Lake Geneva and a stone’s throw from the Alps. The strength of our shared commitment to accomplishing our treatment, training and research missions can be found within every one of us and in the diversity within our teams.

A little over 40% of our members of staff work part time. New organisational methods such as jobsharing are practised, particularly by our trainee doctors, for the purposes of a better work-life balance. We also subsidise 260 creche places for the children of our employees.

As a university hospital, CHUV supports the professional training and progress of its employees. In addition to specialised training or courses leading to qualifications, our Training centre offers over 150 professional development courses each year. Our management training programmes – such as MicroMBA, aimed at managers – aim to develop a managerial culture based on collaboration, benevolent leadership, innovation and client focus.

Furthermore, Lausanne has been ranked the best small city in the world by Monocle magazine!
